Raw Edges: Why Our Seams Look Handmade (Because They Are)

Look closely at the hems in this film: the edges are left raw on purpose. That fringe of loose thread is not a shortcut — it is the signature of a garment finished by hand, in a small batch, from GOTS-certified organic cotton gauze.

Why leave edges raw?

Because gauze is woven to move, and a heavy machine-bound hem fights that. A raw edge keeps the drape soft, gets more beautiful as it washes, and shows honestly how the piece was made. Factories hide the making; we leave it visible.

Will it fray apart?

No — the edges are secured before they are released. The fringe softens and settles; the seam holds. That is the difference between raw and unfinished.
